    Se leía como “sanio” aunque siempre le llamé “sanllo”. No entendía muy bien la sustancial diferencia entre el botón de “pause” y el de “stop”, pero lo que nunca llegué a averiguar era el significado de las palabras “rewind” y “ffwd” – o algo así -, que le daba un halo de misterio a aquel simple aparato.

    Ceuta era muy curiosa porque todo era más barato y la gente tenía televisor en color. Fue en uno de ellos donde vi la noticia de que una nave, la “voyager”, iba a pasear por nuestro sistema solar, así que supongo que de ello hará unos veintiséis años. Lo que sí es seguro es que hoy se cumplen cien del nacimiento del cantante y compositor Antonio Machín, imprescindible en mi infancia, estrella indiscutible de la paupérrima fonoteca que teníamos en casa primero, y en el coche después.

    Sus angelitos negros, su madrecita o su envidia nos hacían más llevadero el trayecto Málaga-Calpe todos los veranos, máxime cuando la chapa del Renault 6 llegaba a su punto más tórrido en la sierra de Huétor o en el desierto de Galera, en un mar de curvas sembrado de pestilentes camiones de gorrinos. Música que se admiraban en expositor mientras tomabas una fresca mirinda en alguna perdida venta. Era tranquilizador saber que si se desmelenaba la cinta, siempre podías encontrarle recambio.

Gracias por tus letras pese a que por entonces no entendía qué era tener envidia de un pañuelo, por qué las gardenias mueren con el amor, o que la bondad no entiende de color. Y gracias por tu melodía, que sin ti no hubiera soportado esas otras cintas de Emilio el Moro, Marifé de Triana o Concha Piquer. ¡Ah!, y gracias por enseñarme el significado de “rewind”.
