Engañosas ofertas de discos
Pero pronto las secciones de ofertas empezaron a ser ocupadas por discos realizados exclusivamente para éstas: los famosos de la serie media. Pero no nos equivoquemos, estos títulos no son ofertas, simplemente exprimen un catálogo devaluado por la demanda, que no por la calidad musical. La calidad final ya es otra cuestión aparte. Un ejemplo: “Join Hands” de Siouxsie & The Banshees apareció directamente como serie media en España, en vinilo sin ningún encarte interior. Ahora aparece, también en oferta, en digipack, con fotos, las letras y temas adicionales. Si su precio no llega a los nueve euros, me pregunto por qué un título nuevo debe costar más del doble.
A las nuevas remasterizaciones del stock de los catálogos, junto a la adición de canciones más o menos inéditas y mejoras en los encartes se le unen las ediciones exclusivas para cds. Por ejemplo, encuentro “rare, live & unreleased 1974-76” de los incombustibles The Stranglers. Su precio sí era de verdadera oferta, pues no llegaba a los 3 euros, pero realmente no eran ni “rare”, ni “unreleased”, pues algunas de esas versiones las tengo al menos un par de veces más tanto en vinilo como en cd. Otro ejemplo: “Inolvidable”, un disco recopilatorio de los argentinos Soda Stereo pensado exclusivamente para el mercado de oferta, que sin embargo ofrece la opción de volver a escuchar a la banda (aunque se nota que han envejecido notablemente estos temas).
Sigo mirando y me encuentro un extraño mix: Un doble disco, con 091 y Smash como protagonistas. Aún estoy mirando qué tienen ambos en común para tan curiosa alianza. Los discos dobles y triples revisando la discografía de otros grupos también pululan por esas “ofertas”, hasta que te encuentras con un nuevo formato: una serie que no llega a los 6 euros, editada en una funda de cartón (bastante espartana) y que incluye recopilatorios (The best of Housemartins, por ejemplo), como discos de reciente creación (alguno de Queens of the Stone Age o Black Eye Peas). Su edición normal sobrepasa los 15 euros, pero dudo mucho que sea el envase lo que justifique los 9 euros de diferencia.
Por último encuentro los discos que están en verdadera oferta. Hoy he tenido suerte, “i am as pure as oranj”, de The Fall, por menos de 3 euros. He tenido que mirar toda la sección, pero la búsqueda ha merecido la pena. Sin embargo he “picado” con las otras ofertas que no lo son tanto: “Tinderbox” de Siouxsie & The Banshees, que es un gran disco, pero que por mucho que ponga el cartelito de ganga, no vale más de 9 euros en cualquier establecimiento. El mercado manda y no son los músicos precisamente los que más ganan; aunque mis oídos no entienden: ellos siempre escuchan la melodía, no entienden de estas cosas mundanas... “and your city lies in dust, my friend”.
